‘Worryingly’ few civilians from Sudan's el-Fasher making it to Chad, says aid chief

An aid chief from the Danish Refugee Council has warned that a worryingly low number of civilians fleeing the Sudanese city of el-Fasher are successfully reaching the border with Chad. The low arrival numbers are attributed to the extreme dangers of the journey following the city's violent capture by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Refugees who have completed the journey describe being looted, threatened at gunpoint, and subjected to physical and sexual violence at numerous checkpoints. These accounts of atrocities correspond with other reports of mass killings and abuses carried out by the RSF.
