Visa and mortgage restrictions may be limiting flow of Indian nationals to US

Visa and mortgage restrictions are making the United States a less attractive destination for non-permanent residents, particularly Indian nationals. Many Indian students come to the US for higher education before seeking jobs, but high H-1B visa fees and diminishing opportunities in the housing market are creating significant barriers. Despite Indian students recently becoming the largest international student group, preliminary data shows a significant drop in new student visa arrivals. A climate of fear, intensified by increased vetting of student applications for "hostile attitudes" and a new executive order signed by President Trump, is compounding these challenges.
