US: ICE detains mother of press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s nephew

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have detained Bruna Ferreira, the mother of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt's nephew. Ferreira, a 33-year-old Brazilian national, was taken into custody in Massachusetts and is now being held in Louisiana facing removal proceedings. She is accused of overstaying a tourist visa that expired in 1999 after arriving in the US as a child. Ferreira was previously a recipient of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program but was reportedly unable to renew her legal status, and her family has expressed disappointment that Leavitt has not offered assistance.
