Unrwa chief says Gaza 'manmade famine' can be reversed

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini described life for Palestinians in Gaza as an "inferno" and stated the current famine is "manmade." He asserted that the famine can be reversed with sufficient political will to open the gates and allow humanitarian organizations to work. Lazzarini noted that UNRWA alone has enough food and assistance currently stuck in Egypt and Jordan to cover the entire population's needs for three months. He also called for an immediate ceasefire to alleviate the crisis.
