Unrwa chief says agency has vital role to play in Gaza reconstruction

UNRWA's commissioner-general, Philippe Lazzarini, stated that the humanitarian agency has a vital role to play in the reconstruction of Gaza. Speaking during high-level UN meetings, Lazzarini said that UNRWA was not consulted on a US peace plan for the territory. The US plan is reportedly a 21-point blueprint for a ceasefire and the rebuilding of the devastated strip. Lazzarini affirmed that despite not seeing the plan's substance, UNRWA remains a key asset for the international community.
