Under US pressure, Lebanon begins disarming Palestinian factions in refugee camps

Lebanon has initiated the disarmament of Palestinian factions within its refugee camps, beginning in Beirut's Burj al-Barajneh camp. The policy stems from an agreement between the Lebanese President and the Palestinian Authority President to ensure only the Lebanese state bears arms. This action is also a direct result of United States pressure on Lebanon to consolidate all weapons under the control of the Lebanese Armed Forces.
