UN resolution on Gaza imposes 'illegal trusteeship' over Palestinians, says top legal expert

A UN Security Council resolution endorsing a US plan for Gaza is legally invalid and in breach of international law, according to a top legal expert. The resolution, 2803, backs the creation of an international stabilization force and places former US President Donald Trump in supreme control of the territory. International law professor Ralph Wilde argues the plan imposes an illegal "trusteeship" over Gaza, a colonial arrangement that violates the Palestinian right to self-determination. Wilde states that the right to self-determination, adopted after World War Two, was a direct repudiation of such trusteeship models.
