UK foreign secretary to reaffirm plan for Palestinian state recognition

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy is set to reaffirm the UK's plan to formally recognise a Palestinian state in September. The government will proceed with the recognition because Israel has failed to meet conditions previously set by the UK Prime Minister. In response, Israeli officials have warned they could formally annex the occupied West Bank if the UK and other major powers push ahead with recognition at the UN General Assembly.
