Turkey's intelligence chief declares Africa a strategic priority

Turkey's intelligence chief, Ibrahim Kalin, has declared Africa a strategic priority where strategic competition is accelerating. Kalin stated that the National Intelligence Organisation's activities in Libya, Somalia, and Sudan have attracted international attention and that intelligence diplomacy is achieving positive results across the continent. Turkey's engagement has expanded from economic and diplomatic ties to a more military and security-oriented approach, including supplying armed drones and signing security agreements. This multi-faceted strategy, combining hard power, soft power, and commerce, has established Turkey as one of the most consequential external actors in Africa.
