Tunisia arrests prominent opposition leader to enforce jail sentence

Tunisian authorities arrested prominent human rights activist Chaima Issa to enforce a 20-year prison sentence. Issa was one of dozens of opposition figures sentenced on appeal for charges including "conspiracy against state security" in a trial condemned by rights groups as politically motivated. The 37 defendants, accused of meeting with foreign diplomats, received sentences of up to 45 years. Other prominent figures like Jawhar Ben Mbarek and Khayam Turki also received lengthy prison terms.
