Texas governor designates Muslim Brotherhood, Cair as terror organisations

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has designated the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist and transnational criminal organizations. This proclamation bars the groups from acquiring land within the state and gives the Texas attorney general the authority to sue them. CAIR condemned the move as a "stunt" and an act of "anti-Muslim hysteria" intended to suppress criticism of the Israeli government. The civil liberties group stated it is reviewing its response and is prepared to sue the governor again for what it considers a violation of the First Amendment.
