Syrian army deploys in Deir Ezzor as ceasefire redraws control in the north

The Syrian army has deployed into parts of eastern Deir Ezzor province following the withdrawal of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). This deployment is part of a ceasefire agreement that ended recent fighting and transfers significant territory, including oil and gas fields, from the SDF to the Syrian government in Damascus. The 14-point accord mandates the full administrative and military transfer of Deir Ezzor and Raqqa provinces to state control and integrates SDF civilian institutions into state bodies. Despite the agreement, tensions remain, with the Syrian army reporting attacks on its soldiers which it blames on Kurdish forces.
