Syria deal with Kurdish forces hands Turkey a strategic win

A deal between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is viewed as a strategic victory for Turkey, addressing its national security concerns. The agreement, which integrates SDF civilian and military authorities under Damascus's control, was quietly endorsed by the United States following high-level talks with Turkish officials. This shift in US policy came after the SDF resisted compromise and the Syrian army launched operations against its positions in Aleppo. The new arrangement is also expected to positively impact Turkey's stalled peace process with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
