Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have captured the Heglig oil field, a crucial economic and strategic area in the country's south. This capture gives the RSF control over key infrastructure, including a vital pipeline that transports oil from South Sudan to Port Sudan for export. The advance is part of a broader RSF push through the Kordofan region, aiming to secure revenue streams and open a corridor towards the capital, Khartoum.
