Sudanese women describe sexual violence and beatings while escaping el-Fasher

Women escaping the violent capture of el-Fasher in Sudan have shared harrowing testimonies of sexual violence, beatings, and killings. Survivors told the United Nations that they witnessed widespread rape and dead bodies littering the roads as they fled the city on foot. Many were personally subjected to beatings and inhumane searches by Rapid Support Forces fighters, who also reportedly abducted or killed young men from fleeing groups. While tens of thousands have managed to escape, many civilians remain trapped after the RSF closed a critical exit route.
