Sudan: UN investigation finds 'hallmarks of genocide' in el-Fasher

A United Nations investigation has concluded that the violent seizure of el-Fasher in Sudan by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) bears the "hallmarks of genocide." The report details widespread atrocities including indiscriminate shootings, mass executions, and systematic sexual violence against women and girls from non-Arab communities. The conflict, which began in April 2023, has killed tens of thousands, displaced millions, and drawn in regional powers, with the UAE accused of supporting the RSF. Based on interviews with over 300 witnesses, the UN mission described the events as "three days of absolute horror" and demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice.
