State Department contractor fired over criticism of Israel: Report

A US State Department contractor, Shahed Ghoreishi, who served as the top press officer for Israel-Palestinian affairs, has been fired. The termination occurred after an internal debate about whether the department should publicly condemn the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. Ghoreishi had previously clashed with senior officials for lobbying to issue a statement of condolence for journalists killed by Israel in Gaza.
