Spanish council implements 'total arms embargo' on Israel

Spain’s Council of Ministers approved a law instituting a permanent arms embargo on Israel, banning both the purchase and sale of military equipment. The decree also prohibits imports from illegal Israeli settlements and criminalizes the passage of arms ships destined for Israel through Spanish ports. These measures were adopted as an urgent response to the conflict in Gaza and to support the Palestinian population. The law includes a provision allowing the Spanish government to authorize transfers exceptionally based on "general national interests."
