'Sharp spike' in anti-Muslim posts on X since US-Israel war on Iran, study shows

A study by the Center for the Study of Organized Hate revealed a sharp spike in anti-Muslim posts on the social media platform X since the US and Israel began a joint war on Iran. The volume of posts dehumanizing or inciting violence against US Muslims surged from under 2,000 per day to over 6,000 on the day the war started. The report noted a significant use of dehumanizing language, such as calling Muslims "pests" and "vermin," which has historically preceded extreme violence. This content also included calls for discriminatory policies like a "Muslim Exclusion Act" and the deportation of all Muslims from the US. The study found that reposts amplified the visibility of this harmful content by an 11-fold factor.
