Saudi Arabia launches huge Mecca expansion with tall towers overlooking Kaaba

Saudi Arabia has announced a massive expansion project in Mecca named "King Salman Gate." The development, launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, will feature tall towers near the Grand Mosque for prayer, accommodation, and hospitality. As part of the Vision 2030 economic plan, it aims to add 900,000 prayer spaces and generate over 300,000 jobs. The project is being developed by an arm of the kingdom's sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund. This initiative is moving forward even as Saudi Arabia has scaled back other mega-projects due to high costs.
