Rights groups in Tunisia are condemning police impunity after a man named Naim Briki died from severe head trauma following a violent encounter with law enforcement. Briki was allegedly beaten by several officers after a police chase in Kairouan ended in a collision. Tunisian and international NGOs have denounced the incident, stating it highlights recurring tragedies linked to systematic police violence and a policy of impunity. Since 2011, 31 people have reportedly died at the hands of police, with hundreds of complaints for human rights violations and torture resulting in almost no fair trials for the victims.
