'Record high' number of Palestinians died in Israeli prison as a result of Ben Gvir's policies

A record high of 110 Palestinians have died in Israeli prisons over the past two and a half years, a sharp increase attributed to policies by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir. These policies reportedly include smaller food rations, deprivation of sunlight, limited hygiene access, and violent beatings. The mistreatment and abuse have sharply escalated since the war on Gaza began, with at least 100 prisoner deaths documented under these conditions. Human rights groups and Israel’s Public Defender’s Office have condemned the systemic violence and worsening conditions, with some referring to the prisons as “torture camps”.
