Qatar to invest in Canadian projects as Ottawa diversifies relationships

Qatar has committed to making significant strategic investments in Canadian nation-building projects across sectors like AI, aerospace, and defence technologies. This agreement follows a meeting between Canada's Prime Minister and Qatar's emir and is part of Canada's foreign policy to diversify its relationships beyond the United States. The two nations will also establish a joint commission for economic and technical cooperation and negotiate a framework for exchanging military and security expertise. Additionally, Canada will finalize a foreign investment agreement and establish a defence attache post in Doha.
