Organizations like Betar USA and StopAntisemitism have attacked her over her previous marriage to the son of Marwan Barghouti, a jailed Palestinian political leader. Ayoub defended Barghouti as a symbol of peace for Palestinians and also described facing discrimination and racism during the pageant.
