Pope Leo decries 'forced exile' of Gaza civilians

Pope Leo spoke out against the forced displacement of Gaza’s civilians as Israel intensified its assault on Gaza City. During his weekly Angelus prayer, he stated that there is no future based on violence, forced exile, and revenge. Leo’s role in advocating for peace in Gaza has reportedly become more prominent since Israel struck the territory’s only Catholic church in July. The first pope from the United States added that those who truly love the people work for peace.
