Nearly 900 pro-Palestine protesters were arrested in London during a demonstration against the UK government's decision to proscribe the group Palestine Action. The protest was a response to the Labour government banning the group under the Terrorism Act after its members targeted an RAF base over planes allegedly used in Middle East military operations. Detainees reported that the mass arrests overwhelmed police resources, with officers complaining about long hours and being overstretched. Protesters were encouraged to refuse street bail to make the operation unmanageable, leading to a prolonged 12-hour arrest process. The proscription of Palestine Action, a direct action group, is a first of its kind in the UK.
