Palestinian Authority moves to draft constitution

The Palestinian Authority is moving to draft an interim constitution for a future Palestinian state. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree to form a committee composed of national, political, community, and legal experts to create the document. The committee will also ensure representation from civil society and across genders. This action coincides with plans by several European countries to recognize a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly.
