Palestinian activist sues Betar USA for violation of civil rights

Prominent Palestinian-American activist Nerdeen Kiswani is suing the far-right group Betar USA, alleging a months-long campaign of violent threats and civil rights violations. The federal lawsuit claims Kiswani was subjected to physical intimidation and racially-motivated threats, including a social media post offering a cash reward to anyone who would hand her an exploding beeper, referencing an Israeli tactic against Hezbollah. Betar USA also allegedly urged the Trump administration to revoke her citizenship and submitted her name for deportation. The lawsuit utilizes the Ku Klux Klan Enforcement Act of 1871, a Reconstruction-era statute enacted to protect against organized racial terror.
