Pakistan has reportedly offered to accept the extradition of grooming gang leaders in exchange for the United Kingdom handing over political dissidents. The proposal was allegedly made by Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to the British high commissioner. Pakistan is specifically requesting the return of anti-government figures Shahzad Akbar and Adil Raja, who are critics of the current Pakistani government and live in the UK. This offer comes after the UK has previously tried to deport two convicted ringleaders of a Rochdale grooming gang to Pakistan, which refused to accept them after they renounced their Pakistani citizenship.
