Overwhelming majority of Palestinians oppose Hamas disarmament, poll finds

A poll conducted across the West Bank and Gaza shows that about 70 percent of Palestinians oppose the disarmament of Hamas, even if it means a return to Israeli attacks. Opposition is notably stronger in the West Bank (80%) than in Gaza (55%). The survey also reveals deep skepticism regarding a US-led peace plan, with 62 percent believing it will not succeed in ending the war permanently. Furthermore, 53 percent of Palestinians view the 7 October 2023 Hamas-led attack as "correct," and four in five want Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to resign.
