Netanyahu thwarted seven Gaza ceasefire deals, Israeli report finds

An Israeli investigative report found that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thwarted seven Gaza ceasefire deals with Hamas. According to senior American and Israeli officials interviewed for the report, Netanyahu was chiefly responsible for obstructing the agreements, often bowing to pressure from far-right ministers. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that early in the war, Hamas was ready to release some hostages, but the Israeli government was not receptive. Former Israeli War Cabinet member Gadi Eisenkot also said the government initially made no effort to secure the captives' release and later created obstacles to extending a ceasefire.
