Military Senior Service Colleges Require Reform, But There Sure Are Some Bad Ideas Out There

U.S. military senior service colleges require reform, but proposals to focus exclusively on tactical warfighting are misguided. This "cult of lethality" approach fails to address the core problem of linking tactical actions to strategic objectives, a recent struggle for the U.S. military. Effective senior leaders require a broad education in strategy, diplomacy, and politics, not just more tactical training. Therefore, removing civilian faculty and interagency students would be detrimental, as they are essential for creating leaders who can navigate the complexities of modern national security and execute national strategy.
