Leqaa Kordia, longest-detained pro-Palestine protester, freed from ICE custody

Leqaa Kordia, a 33-year-old Palestinian immigrant, has been freed from US immigration detention after being held for over a year. Her release from an ICE facility in Texas was secured with a $100,000 bond, which the Trump administration chose not to challenge after two previous appeals. Kordia was the last person still in custody out of those arrested during pro-Palestine campus protests last year. Her family and supporters believe her detention was a politically motivated, Islamophobic response to her activism for Palestinian rights.
