Lebanon says 'toxic' chemical spray by Israel constitutes environmental crime

Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun accused Israel of committing an environmental crime after its forces sprayed a "toxic substance" over southern Lebanese towns. Aoun called the move a blatant violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and ordered government agencies to pursue diplomatic and legal measures. The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor organization stated this action deliberately targets civilian farmland, which violates international humanitarian law. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) confirmed it was notified by the Israeli army of planned aerial spraying near the Blue Line, which Israel described as a non-toxic substance.
