Israel's far-right National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, has proposed creating a detention facility for Palestinian prisoners that would be surrounded by crocodiles to prevent escapes. The proposed site is near Hamat Gader in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, and the plan is reportedly being reviewed by the Israel Prison Service. The Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem condemned the idea as a "grotesque example" of Israel's current political stage. This proposal surfaces as the Israeli parliament is also set to vote on a bill from Ben Gvir that would allow the execution of Palestinian prisoners accused of attacks.
