Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory: With UN deadline expired, all states must act

A United Nations General Assembly deadline for Israel to terminate its occupation of Palestinian territory has expired without compliance. The deadline was established following a 2024 International Court of Justice (ICJ) advisory opinion that declared the occupation illegal in its existence, not just its conduct. Despite the ruling, the occupation has become more entrenched amid the conflict in Gaza and settlement expansion in the West Bank. The ICJ and UN also affirmed the legal obligations of all other states to take action to suppress Israel's violations of international law.
