Israel 'withholding 766 bodies' of identified Palestinians

Israeli authorities are withholding the bodies of at least 766 identified Palestinians, with nearly half of them having been held since October 2023. The deceased include individuals killed by Israeli forces and 88 prisoners who died in Israeli custody. According to reports, 373 of the bodies were seized after the 7 October attacks. This is part of a long-standing Israeli policy where bodies are either kept in military morgues or buried in so-called "cemeteries of numbers."
