Israel seeking 'permanent demographic change' in West Bank and Gaza, UN official says

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk has accused Israel of seeking to impose a permanent demographic change in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Addressing the Human Rights Council, Turk stated that Israel's actions demonstrate an "utter disregard for human rights," raising concerns about potential ethnic cleansing. He described the situation across the occupied Palestinian territory as a "human-made disaster" resulting from forcible transfer and displacement. Despite a ceasefire, ongoing Israeli violations have reportedly killed more than 600 Palestinians in Gaza and over 1,000 in the West Bank.
