Israel 'exploring opportunities' to benefit economically from rebuilding Gaza

Israeli finance and army officials are exploring ways for Israel to economically benefit from the future reconstruction of Gaza. One proposal suggests that international donor countries seeking access to Gaza would pay for Israeli highway construction, such as on Route 232. Another idea involves having donors fund the expansion of an Israeli power plant in Ashkelon to supply electricity to Gaza, which would also increase power for all Israelis. These discussions are reportedly taking place within at least six international civil-military working groups set up to coordinate Gaza's reconstruction.
