Israel has expressed concern over Egypt's growing military presence in the Sinai Peninsula, viewing it as a violation of the 1979 peace treaty. According to reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked the US to intervene after direct talks with Cairo failed to resolve the matter. The alleged violations include constructing military infrastructure, such as underground facilities and extended airbase runways, in demilitarized zones.
