Iranian press review: Construction industry hit hard by Afghan workers' deportation

The mass deportation of undocumented Afghan migrants from Iran is causing severe problems for the country's construction industry, which heavily relies on their low-wage labor. Daily deportations have surged since the start of a war with Israel, with Iranian authorities expelling nearly 800,000 Afghans since March. This labor shortage has lowered productivity and suspended some building projects, as Afghans constituted about 50 percent of construction workers in Tehran. Additionally, arrests and deportations of Iranian migrants in the United States have increased sharply following Washington's strikes on Iran's nuclear sites.
