ICC rejects Israel’s appeal to cancel Netanyahu's arrest warrant

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has rejected Israel’s appeal to cancel arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. The warrants were issued over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza. The court upheld the orders, noting it has jurisdiction because the State of Palestine is a member, allowing it to investigate crimes in occupied territories. The decision was condemned by Israel and its ally, the United States, which has sanctioned ICC officials in response. All 124 state parties to the Rome Statute are legally obligated to arrest the officials if they enter their territory.
