How NATO’s Air Defense Future Is Unfolding

NATO's air and missile defense strategy is increasingly shifting towards a European-led model over a centralized NATO approach or maintaining the status quo. This trend is primarily driven by the German-led European Sky Shield Initiative (ESSI), which has expanded and catalyzed billions in new procurement. Other European Union initiatives, like the SAFE program and France/Italy's promotion of the SAMP/T system, also incentivize European-made defenses and collaboration.
