Hellscape Taiwan: A Porcupine Defense in the Drone Age

A "Hellscape" defense strategy for Taiwan is proposed to counter a potential Chinese invasion by creating a layered, all-domain gauntlet of tens of thousands of cheap, autonomous systems. This concept utilizes drones, uncrewed vehicles, and mines to inflict cascading attrition on an invading fleet, starting far from shore and continuing to the beaches. The strategy aims to sow chaos, deplete enemy resources, and ultimately halt an invasion at the water's edge. This approach is presented as a necessary evolution of Taiwan's current "porcupine" strategy, which is criticized for its over-reliance on expensive, vulnerable platforms and lack of a coherent operational concept.
