Hamas official says state recognition a victory for Palestinian rights

A senior Hamas official hailed the recognition of a Palestinian state by Britain, Canada, and Australia, describing it as a victory for Palestinian rights. The official, Mahmud Mardawi, stated that the move sends a clear message that Palestinian national rights cannot be erased. In a later statement, Hamas added that the recognition must be accompanied by practical measures. These measures should include an immediate halt to the war in the Gaza Strip and an end to annexation projects in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
