Greenland Is Strategic. Annexation Is Not

Greenland's strategic importance is increasing due to rising geopolitical tensions in the Arctic, particularly from Russia and China. While the United States should enhance its military presence in the region, a hypothetical proposal to annex Greenland from Denmark would be a grave strategic error. Such an action would fracture the NATO alliance, undermine European security, and create opportunities for Russian and Chinese expansion. Instead of confrontation, the U.S. should strengthen its position through close collaboration with Denmark and other regional allies, utilizing existing defense agreements to counter threats.
