Gaza Strip: Malnutrition causes developmental issues for life in children, says Oxfam

According to an Oxfam humanitarian adviser, malnutrition in the Gaza Strip is causing severe and lifelong developmental problems for children. Unlike adults, children cannot recover from periods of undernutrition, which permanently affects their brain development and overall health. The adviser described a dire situation where children search for food in bins and smelling cooked food is a novelty. Oxfam is also among over 100 NGOs stating that new Israeli legislation is being used to block aid supplies, refuting Israel's claims that trucks are failing to meet security standards.
