The US is significantly increasing national park entrance fees for foreign visitors as part of an "America First" policy. An annual pass will now cost nonresidents $250, a threefold increase, while remaining $80 for American residents. Additionally, an extra $100 per-person fee will be charged at 11 of the most popular parks for those without an annual pass. Fee-free days will also become a privilege exclusive to US citizens and permanent residents. The administration frames this as ensuring international visitors pay their fair share for park maintenance, a policy implemented after recent layoffs of park service staff.
