Fate of Palestinians cannot be left in hands of Netanyahu, says Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the fate of Palestinian civilians should not be left in the hands of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Macron claimed that Netanyahu's priority is not the release of hostages, citing the recent offensive on Gaza City and strikes on negotiators in Qatar. He argued that "total war kills civilians, it does not destroy Hamas" and called on the US to pressure Israel to change its course. The French leader also warned that EU countries might consider sanctions and that any Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank would cross a "red line" for France.
