Newly discovered documents from the 1948 Nakba reveal the extent of orders for Zionist fighters to kill Palestinian civilians. The papers, which belonged to a member of the Golani infantry brigade, were found near bins in Jerusalem and contain logbooks and notes from the war. Testimony from a trial describes an order to "annihilate anyone who appeared in the street" during the conquest of Beersheba, regardless of resistance. Other documents detail orders to shoot villagers for minor infractions, such as transferring identification certificates or failing to report for military inspection on time.
